Location: Exeter - Hybrid
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 DoE

The Role

A leading design-and-build consultancy is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing team delivering high-impact water and wastewater projects. With the company s recent appointment to South West Water s AMP8 framework, this role offers the chance to work on innovative schemes that enhance the resilience and sustainability of critical infrastructure for communities across the region.

You ll play a key role in shaping electrical design from feasibility through to commissioning, working collaboratively across disciplines to develop practical and future-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading electrical engineering design across water and wastewater schemes
  • Providing technical guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborating with commercial, operational, and construction teams to deliver efficient and safe solutions
  • Acting as technical reviewer and design checker across multiple projects
  • Driving innovation through standardisation, digital tools, and sustainable approaches
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and statutory authorities to maintain strong working relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to grow technical capability within the team
  • Conducting site visits to assess constructability and integration with existing systems
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised institution
  • Strong technical background in delivering electrical designs in infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
  • A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the South West
