This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
As our Principle Designer, you will be appointed by the client to take responsibility and accountability for signing off pre-construction information. You will influence how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project and support sound design of solutions to remove risk.
You will provide and modify design for Construction teams, Contractors, and the Client. You need to understand issues across the water sector asset base, collaborate effectively, and communicate clear, workable outcomes for construction.
You will research and discover problems, develop insights, and provide focused definitions. You will develop, explore, and create potential solutions, then test, listen, and receive feedback to find optimal solutions.
You must consider pre-construction information, eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks, and take steps to reduce or control remaining risks. Demonstrating the necessary skills, knowledge, experience, and organizational capability is essential.
This role requires you to be innovative, challenged, engaged, and self-motivated to develop your technical expertise continuously. Bringing innovation and questioning established practices are key aspects of the role.
You will apply sound engineering judgment, understand and apply design guidance documents, standards, and specifications, and develop new ways of working.
