Principal Designer - Health & Safety CDM Consultant - LHS

Description

McBains is seeking a Principal Designer / CDM Consultant to join our London team due to continued growth. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of CDM design and delivery experience, supporting both strategic and operational project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering insights to improve service quality and standards.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across projects, delivering CDM services for various sectors including commercial, residential, and education, working within multidisciplinary frameworks.
  • Manage CDM compliance through direct client appointments, acting as a 3rd Party or CDM Advisor.
  • Oversee CDM regulation implementation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Serve as the primary contact for health and safety issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Maintain documentation such as pre-construction info and safety files.
  • Perform site visits to monitor compliance and address safety concerns.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
  • Contribute to internal policy development related to CDM.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The candidate must hold NEBOSH (Construction or General) certification and may also possess:

  • GradIOSH (Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health)
  • Affiliate MaPS
  • Affiliate IIRSM
  • Design or Construction professional memberships such as CABE, CIAT, or CIOB

Additional training in fire risk, building regulations, or construction services is advantageous.
