Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Architect to lead design across large multi-disciplinary projects, with a focus on data-centre related work and infrastructure. The role requires coordinating across architectural and engineering teams, ensuring quality, and delivering complex design packages on tight timelines.

The role supports design leadership, mentoring, and governance, with travel across the UK, Ireland, and Europe and hybrid/hub-based working options.

Qualifications

Fully Qualified Architect (ARB Registered) with proven experience on large multi-disciplinary design projects.
Willingness to work across infrastructure design areas: surface transport, rail, aviation, education, health care, science, logistics.
Degree in architecture; Diploma or Masters preferred.
Experience with building contracts forms is helpful.
Understanding UK Building Systems, Standards and Regulations.
IT literate with CAD software and MS Office.
Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines.
Clear work history and evidence of ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

Lead designer within a multi-disciplinary team.
Coordinate design across architectural and engineering teams for integrated outputs.
Ensure governance at bid stage and during delivery.
Present to clients and prospective clients.
Support design proposals for new builds, refurbishment, upgrades and expansion programs.
Review and approve drawing information.
Liaise with design and drafting teams; deliver packages of moderate to high complexity.
Prepare reports and data tables; review third-party documentation.
Ensure compliance with codes, permits and standards.
Mentor less experienced team members and lead verification activities.
