Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd on behalf of the client seeks an experienced Principal Quality Inspector to oversee surface preparation, abrasive blasting and coating activities on units in build at Birkenhead. You will act as the on-site focal point for coating inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications and ITPs, and managing non-conformances with stakeholders across suppliers and shipyards.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection of protective coatings.
• Familiar with ITPs and hold points.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications.
• Health and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Inspect abrasive blasting, surface preparation and coating application.
• Review ITPs and acceptance criteria.
• Monitor environmental conditions and coating thickness.
• Identify defects and non-conformances, ensure corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Coordinate inspection activities with the build programme.
• Act as the main on-site contact for coating-related quality matters.
• Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
