Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking an experienced ICorr-certified Protective Coatings Inspector to support a major South Wales project. The role is site-based, focusing on workmanship, durability and quality assurance across multiple packages on a large indoor venue.

Applicants must hold ICorr Level 2 or Level 3 certification and have proven coatings inspection experience on construction or industrial projects.

Qualifications

• Current ICorr Protective Coatings Inspector certification at Level 2 or Level 3.
• Experience inspecting protective coatings on construction or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and inspection documentation.
• Experience using inspection equipment and maintaining test records.
• Methodical approach to QA/QC and non-conformance reporting.
• Available for freelance assignment in Cardiff.

Responsibilities

• Inspect protective coating works per project specifications, procedures and ITPs.
• Assess surface preparation and substrate acceptance criteria.
• Monitor coating application, environmental conditions, curing and process controls.
• Carry out inspections and tests using calibrated equipment; record results.
• Check coating thickness, cleanliness and other parameters relevant to coating system.
• Review technical documentation, data sheets and inspection requirements.
• Identify defects, deviations and non-conformances; ensure corrective actions are recorded.
• Produce inspection reports, daily records, photographic evidence and quality documents.
• Liaise with site management, coating applicators, subcontractors and QA personnel to resolve issues.
• Ensure inspection activities comply with project requirements and standards.
