Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Core Cloud Platform roadmap, Kubernetes, and storage strategy as the company scales. You will own cloud configuration and Helm chart layers that power dozens of services, and drive cell-based automation across hundreds of clusters.

You will guide senior engineers, embrace AI tooling, and shape a highly performant, secure infrastructure that supports rapid product delivery at scale in a cloud-first environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive Kubernetes expertise and AWS cloud experience.
• Track record of running production SaaS at scale.
• Experience operating Kubernetes at large fleet with hundreds of clusters.
• Strong data storage knowledge: SQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch.
• Solid operational troubleshooting for Kubernetes, databases and messaging.
• Deep networking understanding and production use of service meshes/gateways.
• Ability to separate infra configuration from application code at scale.
• Experience with cell-based, multi-tenant or multi-region architectures.
• Proficient in Python and Go.
• Advocate for high-performance CI/CD that supports agentic workflows.
• Able to lead and deliver ambitious technical roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural roadmap for our cloud, Kubernetes, and storage platform.
• Own cloud-side configuration and the Helm chart layer for Cloud Core.
• Build the cell registry and automate provisioning to take new cell setup from weeks to days.
• Design the cross-cell gate mechanism as the reusable standard checkpoint across every cell.
• Own, operate and evolve our Cloud and Kubernetes platform, including our data storage layers.
• Make operations (upgrades, patching, lifecycle management) routine across hundreds of clusters.
• Continuously improve the security, reliability, cost efficiency and performance of our infrastructure.
• Champion standards and drive initiatives to promote uniformisation and eliminate duplication.
• Enable truly self-service and agentic workflow patterns that support a Build it - Own it model.
• Build tooling and AI powered integrations that reduce the cognitive load in cloud.
• Architect, design and implement simple and maintainable solutions.
