NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde seeks a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for the Young Onset Dementia Service. The shift pattern for this role is 3 days per week, Monday to Friday. Please note that the salary is pro-rata for part-time hours.
NHS GG&C Older People’s Psychology Service (OPPS) invites applications for a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within our Young Onset Dementia Service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in working with people with dementia to deliver high-quality psychological care.
The Young Onset Dementia Service supports individuals under 65 with a dementia diagnosis and their families/carers. It is a multidisciplinary team including Clinical Psychology staff, a Community Psychiatric Nurse, and administrative support. The service provides specialist training, case consultation, assessment and diagnosis guidance for Young Onset Dementia, and psychological interventions for younger people with dementia and their families. It collaborates with Adult and Older People’s Community Mental Health Teams, other mental health services, acute hospital specialties, and third-sector organizations like Alzheimer Scotland.
The postholder will deliver specialized clinical psychology services, supporting psychological interventions and therapies across care sectors, providing assessments, therapy, and advice to colleagues and carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
This position is part of the NHS GG&C Older People’s Psychology Service, which offers highly specialized services to older adults in the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area, including community mental health, hospital liaison, inpatient services, and access expansion initiatives.
The post reports to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Team Lead) for Young Onset Dementia and may require providing input across different service bases as needed.
