Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Clinical Psychologist based at NSPCC/Govan. Funded by NSPCC, the role will be hosted by NHS Ayrshire & Arran, providing core support and dual accountability streams.
What you will do:
This role involves contributing to an innovative clinical service aimed at improving infant mental health experiencing adversity. The Glasgow Infant and Family and Infant Parent Support Team (GIFT/IPS) at NSPCC is a multidisciplinary team including Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, a Psychiatrist, and Family Engagement and Liaison Workers. Some team members are NSPCC employees, others are seconded from the NHS. Funded by NSPCC, the role will be hosted by NHS Ayrshire & Arran, offering support and dual accountability.
You will support the delivery of evidence-based relationship-focused assessments and interventions to infants and families, provide psychological advice, consultancy, training, and supervision to develop the psychological skills of health and non-health professionals. Skills in intensive relationship-based assessment and intervention, using relationship-based therapies (training provided), are required. An understanding of family systems is important.
Support for infant mental health is often provided to foster or kinship parents, requiring close liaison with Social Work, the Children’s Hearing System, and Adult Services. IPS works with families with children in parental care, developed alongside parents with lived experience, and informed by poverty and neurodiversity. The team maintains links with Glasgow University Child Academic Team and NSPCC policy colleagues.

Hours:
37 hours per week. We welcome applications from recently qualified Clinical Psychologists and final-year Trainees in a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Shift Pattern:
The current post is full-time Band 8A (10 sessions/week). Variations in hours will be considered.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
Essential for this role.
