Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to support our growing energy team across the UK and Ireland, delivering onshore wind, solar PV, hydro, grid infrastructure and BESS projects. You will shape feasibility through to construction supervision for a diverse portfolio and collaborate with major energy providers and private developers.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with offices across the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered engineer status or actively pursuing chartership with a recognized institution.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy projects in the UK/Europe is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV) is beneficial.
• Strong technical competency in civil/structural design and reporting.
• Experience with National Grid technical specifications (NGTS) or CDAE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients and manage day-to-day project work within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams across civil infrastructure.
• Lead the design of roads, drainage, civil/structural works and external interfaces.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to BS EN/Eurocodes.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports and documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
