Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to help expand our energy team and shape sustainable infrastructure across the UK and Ireland. You’ll work on renewables, grid, and storage projects, leading multi-disciplinary design efforts and client liaison.

Based in one of our UK offices with a hybrid working model, you’ll mentor engineers, oversee feasibility through construction, and drive delivery on major energy schemes for utility providers and private developers.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or actively working towards chartership.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects for the Energy Transition.
• Experience within UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11KV - 400KV).
• High degree of technical competency in civil/structural design.
• Strong report writing and organisational skills.
• Familiarity with NGTS or CDAE status is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work and ensure delivery within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead the design of civil infrastructure including roads and drainage.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports and design documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
