Job summary

Sweco is recruiting a Principal Civil Engineer to lead design direction across multiple schemes. You will mentor junior engineers, manage stakeholders, and ensure designs meet current legislation, standards, and budgets.

The role involves driving innovation and collaboration across the team while delivering high-quality civil infrastructure solutions. The position supports hybrid working with a focus on office/site presence three days per week, and you will contribute to AMP8 projects delivering

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering (or equivalent) and ideally chartered or working towards it.
• Expertise in reinforced concrete, steel buildings, buried pipework, and site infrastructure.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for health, safety, and innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Check and review civil design deliverables to ensure processes are followed.
• Input into CDM and commissioning strategy meetings.
• Review and ensure CDM deliverables are completed for projects.
• Maintain portfolio awareness and disseminate knowledge across the team.
• Ensure compliance with Minimum Asset Standards and provide constructive challenges.
• Work across Alliance projects to establish technical standards.
• Implement and embrace new digital technologies for 3D models.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers.
• Develop design alerts to promote learning and improvement.
