Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to support our expanding energy team across Renewables, Transmission and Distribution projects in the UK and Ireland.

You’ll contribute from feasibility through to construction supervision, leading civil infrastructure design for wind, solar, hydro, grids and BESS, coordinating with clients and internal teams, with opportunities for career progression in a flexible hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BEng Hons) required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with ICE or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy projects.
• Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV).
• Strong technical design skills in civil/structural elements.
• Solid report writing and organisational abilities.
• Familiarity with NGTS or CDAE status is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients and manage day-to-day project work within timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, and external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications per UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and address technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports and documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
