Job summary

Okta is seeking a senior technical field authority for agent identity to own patterns and reference architecture across highly strategic deployments. You will personally own the most complex, regulated projects and guide product direction with engineering leadership.

You will still write code while mentoring engineers, shaping roadmaps, and representing Okta to CISOs and senior stakeholders. Expect heavy travel and executive sightlines across UK teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years shipping production software with distributed systems and identity experience.
• OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, RFC 8693 token exchange, act claims, CIMD and DCR are familiar and you can contribute to standards.
• Deep agent security fluency including OWASP Top 10 for Agentic Applications and NIST AI RMF.
• Proven ability to design fine-grained authorization with policy engines (OPA, Cedar, OpenFGA) at scale.
• Production AI handoffs across major agent platforms and MCP.
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and raise technical bar across teams.
• Credibility with CISOs and senior engineers; comfortable from IDE to boardroom.
• Willingness to travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Own the canonical reference architecture for agent identity and kill-switch patterns.
• Lead the most strategic, regulated, or technically novel deployments.
• Coach senior engineers and set the standard for architectural excellence.
• Shape the roadmap by synthesizing patterns across accounts.
• Represent Okta as a technical authority to executives and customers.
• Resolve the hardest technical and political challenges across accounts.
• Define evaluation metrics and observability for scalable security.
• Build team leverage by creating reusable modules and enablement.
