Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking Primary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across South Manchester. You will support students in Early Years to Key Stage 2 on a supply basis, with strong behaviour management required.

Locations include Wythenshawe, Northenden and Chorlton. Start date is October 2026 with flexible daily bookings and potential extensions. The role is temporary, part- or full-time depending on school needs, 8:30–3:30 full days.

Qualifications

• Hold Right to Work in the UK – no sponsorship available.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on update service or willing to process a new one.
• Provide two professional references covering the last two years.
• CV with employment/studying gaps clearly explained.
• Teaching Assistant qualifications desirable.
• SEN/SEMH awareness desirable.
• Previous UK school experience ideally up to 6 months.
• Recent safeguarding, prevent and allergy/anaphylaxis training desirable (training provided).

Primary Teaching Assistant - South Manchester

Prospero Teaching is looking for Primary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across South Manchester.

Acting as a work-finding service, we provide supply cover to a range of Primary, Secondary and SEND schools; from small village schools to large secondary schools. We are currently looking for Teaching Assistants to support students in Early Years all the way up to Key Stage 2 on a supply basis. Strong behaviour management skills are essential.

Prospero Teaching work with both experienced Teaching Assistants and those first embarking on their career in education by helping you find your next position. Some contracts may be extended from day-to-day bookings to longer term cover.

• Location - various locations across South Manchester including Wythenshawe, Northenden and Chorlton
• Type of work - Support students either by supervising a small group of students in activities, working 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 with students, aid the Teacher in the classroom.
• Start date - October 2026
• Duration - daily bookings, with the potential for extension depending on schools

• Minimum rate of pay - £92.63 per day - rate negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications

Primary Teaching Assistant - requirements

Any teaching related qualifications are desired but not essential (including teaching qualifications obtained abroad)

• Hold Right to Work in the UK - no sponsorship available
• Hold an Enhanced Child DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional references that cover the last two years, including any appropriate child-related work experience
• Appropriate CV history including mention of any employment/studying gaps
• Teaching Assistant qualifications desirable
• SEN/SEMH Awareness desirable
• Previous experience working in a UK school, ideally up to at least 6 months
• Updated training including safeguarding, prevent and allergy + anaphylaxis training (desirable however not essential as training is provided)
