Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils across welcoming primary schools in Wakefield. This role offers opportunities to work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 depending on experience and school needs.

You will assist teachers to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment, with responsibilities spanning small group support, classroom assistance and pupil encouragement.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Certificate in Early Years Education or Childcare is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
  • Basic first aid certification is an advantage, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver small group tutoring or catch-up programmes.
  • Help pupils stay engaged and motivated with their learning.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ individual needs.
  • Undertake break time and lunch time duties as directed.
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, students and parents/carers to ensure effective communication.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates looking to gain experience within education, or individuals who are passionate about supporting children and considering a future career in teaching.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning and development. You will work closely with teachers and other members of the school staff to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

The role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience acrossEYFS, KS1 and KS2, depending on your experience, interests and the requirements of the school. You may support pupils individually, work with small groups or provide general classroom support to help lessons run effectively.

Working across different schools can also provide valuable experience of a variety of classroom environments, teaching styles and approaches to learning.

  • A minimum of a Level 2 Certificate in Early Years Education or Childcare is an advantage, but not mandatory.
