Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants for primary schools in Wakefield and surrounding areas. Roles cover KS1/KS2 with flexible full-time or part-time contracts.

You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted support, interventions, and a positive learning environment. Ideal candidates have experience with children, a genuine passion for primary education, strong communication and teamwork skills, and a nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

Teaching Assistant - Primary Schools (KS1/KS2)

Location: Wakefield & surrounding areas

Contract: Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediate & ongoing opportunities

We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated Teaching Assistants to support children across KS1 and KS2 in vibrant, welcoming primary schools. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to deliver high‑quality support, provide targeted interventions, and help create a positive learning environment where every child can succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils in KS1/KS2
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Support children with phonics, reading, writing, and maths
  • Help adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
What We're Looking For

  • Knowledge of the KS1/KS2 curriculum (desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, childcare, or equivalent) are beneficial but not essential
