Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Coventry primary school from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This role supports children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and aims to help learners thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will work under the guidance of the class teacher, deliver differentiated activities, support 1:1 and small groups, and contribute to safeguarding and professional

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
  • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Implement IEPs and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support the use of assistive technology and adapted learning resources.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Participate in safeguarding procedures and ongoing professional development.

  • Participate in team meetings, safeguarding procedures, and ongoing professional development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service.
  • Availability to work full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach.
