Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. are partnering with a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Walsall, West Midlands, seeking a Year 2 Teacher. The role offers a full-time position with MPS/UPS dependent on experience and starts in November.

You will plan and deliver Year 1/Year 2 aligned lessons, use assessment to track progress, and work with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to support pupil attainment and wellbeing. An Ofsted-rated 'Good' setting awaits your contribution.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching Year 2 or across Key Stage 1 is preferred.
• Secure understanding of Year 2 curriculum and assessment strategies.
• Confident in teaching early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with Key Stage 1.
• Prepare pupils for end-of-KS1 assessments, including phonics and maths where appropriate.
• Use assessment to monitor progress and support attainment.
• Establish a positive classroom environment with high expectations.
• Differentiate lessons to meet varying abilities and provide additional support.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to promote progress.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment, inspire young learners and support pupils as they build confidence and prepare for the transition into Key Stage 2.

The Role - Year 2 Teacher

• Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 national curriculum.
• Prepare pupils for their end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments, including phonics, reading, writing and mathematics where appropriate.
• Use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify learning needs and support pupil attainment.
• Establish a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour, achievement and inclusion.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including those requiring additional support.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to promote pupil progress and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has experience teaching Year 2 or across Key Stage 1, although strong primary practitioners with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
• Has a secure understanding of the Year 2 curriculum and effective assessment strategies.
• Is confident in teaching early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics.
• Demonstrates strong classroom management and excellent communication skills.
• Is enthusiastic, nurturing and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
