Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. seeks a passionate Primary Teacher (qualified or unqualified) for a temp-to-perm role at an innovative Alternative Provision on a working farm in Clitheroe. You will deliver the primary curriculum to KS1/KS2 pupils with SEMH needs in a farm setting.

Deliver engaging lessons, plan outdoor activities, and build trusting relationships with vulnerable children. DBS required; own transport recommended due to rural location. Term-time schedule with PAYE pay.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or proven experience as an Unqualified Teacher/HLTA with primary teaching experience.
• Experience with KS1/KS2 and SEMH/AP/SEND settings is highly desirable.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and engage in outdoor, animal-assisted learning.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to process.

Responsibilities

Are you an inspiring Primary Teacher or experienced Instructor looking for a refreshing, hands-on learning environment outside the traditional classroom? We are seeking a passionate Primary Teacher (Qualified or Unqualified / Instructor) for an exciting temp-to-perm role at an innovative Alternative Provision (AP) based on a working farm in Clitheroe. This unique setting combines outdoor, animal-assisted, and experiential learning with functional primary curriculum delivery. You will work with primary-aged pupils (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2) who present with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, neurodiverse profiles (such as ASC and ADHD), or who have disengaged from mainstream education.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, creative primary lessons using the farm environment to bring subjects like literacy, numeracy, science, and life skills to life.
• Plan and adapt practical activities integrating outdoor learning, animal care, and countryside crafts.
• Build strong, trust-based relationships with vulnerable children to help restore their confidence and love for learning.
• Manage small class sizes (typically 4-6 pupils) supported by dedicated Learning Support Assistants.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practices.
• Transition seamlessly from an initial temporary contract into a permanent staff member.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) OR proven experience as an Unqualified Teacher / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) / Instructor with primary teaching experience.
• Experience: Background working with primary-aged children (KS1 / KS2); prior experience within SEMH, AP, PRU, or SEND settings is highly desirable.
• Mindset: Resilient, energetic, empathetic, and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.
• Safeguarding: Must hold or be willing to process an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Transport: Due to the rural farm location in Clitheroe, access to your own vehicle is strongly recommended.
