Job summary

Destination Education Ltd. is seeking a Primary Teacher for Reception and Year 2 to undertake a long-term placement in Northampton/Wellingborough. You will deliver high-quality lessons, support early years and key stage pupils, and contribute to their academic, social and emotional development during the placement.

Applicants should hold QTS or an equivalent qualification and have experience in a UK primary/infant school. ECTs are welcome to apply; DBS checks will be completed where required.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons across Reception and Year 2.
• Support Reception pupils with early learning, communication, language and personal development.
• Deliver Year 2 curriculum, developing reading, writing, maths and wider learning.
• Follow EYFS or Primary National Curriculum as appropriate.
• Differentiate learning to meet individual pupil needs.
• Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and encourage positive behaviour.
• Work with teaching assistants and school staff.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development throughout the placement.

The Role as a Reception or Year 2 Teacher, you will take responsibility for delivering high-quality teaching and supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development throughout their learning journey.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, creative and well-structured lessons.
• Supporting Reception pupils with early learning, communication, language, phonics and personal development.
• Teaching the Year 2 curriculum, developing pupils' skills in reading, writing, mathematics and wider learning.
• Following the EYFS framework or Primary National Curriculum, depending on the year group.
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress.
• Building strong relationships with pupils and encouraging positive behaviour.
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff.
• Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development throughout the placement.

We would love to hear from teachers who have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching within a UK primary or infant school.
• Experience or a strong interest in Reception or Year 2.
• A good understanding of the EYFS framework and/or Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• Strong classroom management and lesson-planning skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and inspire young learners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to children's development.
• A reliable, professional and committed attitude.
