Job summary

Destination Education is seeking a passionate Primary Teacher for Reception and Year 2 placements in Northampton. This long-term opportunity involves delivering high-quality lessons and supporting pupils’ development within a UK primary setting.

We welcome Early Career Teachers as well as experienced educators who value consistency, strong classroom management and a caring approach to learning. DBS checks will apply as part of safeguarding.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience in a UK primary or infant school.
• Experience or interest in Reception or Year 2.
• Solid understanding of EYFS framework and/or KS1.
• Strong classroom management and planning skills.
• Able to engage, motivate and inspire young learners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons.
• Support Reception pupils with early learning, phonics and development.
• Teach Year 2 curriculum: reading, writing, maths and broader learning.
• Follow EYFS or KS1 depending on year group.
• Differentiate teaching to meet individual needs.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor and report pupil progress.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and other staff.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development during placement.

The Role as a Reception or Year 2 Teacher, you will take responsibility for delivering high-quality teaching and supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development throughout their learning journey.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, creative and well-structured lessons.
• Supporting Reception pupils with early learning, communication, language, phonics and personal development.
• Teaching the Year 2 curriculum, developing pupils' skills in reading, writing, mathematics and wider learning.
• Following the EYFS framework or Primary National Curriculum, depending on the year group.
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress.
• Building strong relationships with pupils and encouraging positive behaviour.
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff.
• Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development throughout the placement.

We would love to hear from teachers who have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching within a UK primary or infant school.
• Experience or a strong interest in Reception or Year 2.
• A good understanding of the EYFS framework and/or Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• Strong classroom management and lesson-planning skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and inspire young learners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to children's development.
• A reliable, professional and committed attitude.
