Job summary

Reed is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition in a primary school setting. You will work with the class teacher, SENCO and staff to enable access to learning, promote social skills and boost the pupil's confidence.

We welcome applicants passionate about helping children with additional needs, with good teamwork and clear communication. Training and DBS checks will be completed as part of the safeguarding process.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition.
• Support the pupil's learning, communication and emotional development throughout the school day.
• Implement strategies and interventions identified in the child's support plan.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support the development of social interaction skills.
• Adapt learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
• Monitor and record progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil while promoting independence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals.
• Support the pupil during classroom activities, breaktimes, transitions and school events where required.
