Job summary

Greenshaw Learning Trust is seeking a dedicated Primary School Improvement Lead specialising in English to join our Trust-wide support team. You will work 3–4 days a week across our South West schools, supported by the Director of Primary Education and the Primary School Improvement Team, to raise standards in reading, phonics, writing and foundational skills from nursery to Year 6.

Qualifications

• Holds Degree level qualifications and QTS.
• Brings recent, successful experience as an English leader or adviser, with demonstrable evidence of impact on standards.
• Extensive experience in curriculum development and implementation across reading, phonics, writing, and foundational skills.
• Proven track record of observing teaching and learning, analysing data, and providing effective challenge to drive improvement.
• Commitment to educational equity, diversity, and inclusion, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.
• Holds a valid driving licence and access to a car, with willingness to travel to all GLT sites (South West focus).

Responsibilities

• Promote high standards across GLT by supporting senior leadership teams to raise attainment.
• Implement the Greenshaw Raising Attainment Strategy for English from nursery to KS2.
• Lead English network meetings, plan and deliver network sessions, and curate intranet resources.
• Develop and deliver high-quality professional development and drive research-informed practice.
• Onboard new schools and support SLT with GLT English principles.

Our central Shared Services teams play a vital role in supporting the success of every school within the Greenshaw Learning Trust. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and driven Primary School Improvement Lead specialising in English to join our Trust-wide support team. Working 3 or 4 days a week, primarily in our schools in the South West, alongside the Director of Primary Education and the Primary School Improvement Team, you will build leaders' capacity to raise standards in reading, phonics, writing, and foundational skills from nursery to Year 6 across a wide range of school contexts. This role is key to ensuring that our schools are well-equipped to drive change and raise achievement so that all children achieve their full potential.,

• Promote High Standards: Actively promote GLT's culture of high expectations by supporting senior leadership teams to improve standards across all schools.
• Implement Strategy: Support and guide schools to effectively implement the Greenshaw Raising Attainment Strategy for English from nursery to Key Stage 2.
• Lead Subject Networks: Lead the English network working group, plan and deliver network meetings, digest research, and curate intranet resources to cultivate collaboration across the Trust.
• Deliver CPD & Innovation: Develop and deliver high-quality professional development programmes and lead research-informed practice to widen the school improvement offer.
• Onboard New Schools: Train staff in shared GLT English principles and support senior leadership teams when new schools join the Trust.
