Job summary

The position is a temporary cover School Catering Assistant in Burgess Hill, working part-time during school hours (10:00am–2:00pm) with an immediate start. The role supports the school catering team in meal prep and service, ensuring safe, efficient operations in the kitchen and dining areas.

Typical duties include preparing meals, serving pupils and staff, setting up and clearing dining areas, washing dishes, and upholding food hygiene and health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of meals for pupils and staff
• Serving meals to pupils and staff
• Setting up and clearing down the dining area
• Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Cleaning kitchen surfaces and food preparation areas and maintaining high standards of food hygiene
• Supporting the wider catering team as required
• Following all food safety and health & safety procedures
