Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chester le Street. You'll support pupils to thrive, help create a calm and supportive learning environment, and work closely with teachers to promote positive behaviours and learning progress.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, monitoring classroom behaviour, and building trusted relationships with students. Relevant experience and a caring, patient approach are preferred.

Qualifications

• A Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Recent experience in a school or education setting preferred.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning.

Responsibilities

• Monitor behaviour in the classroom and encourage positive conduct.
• Support pupils in developing communication, independence and self-management skills.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners.
• Encourage and motivate children to engage with lessons.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Maintain safeguarding and confidentiality in line with school policies.
