Job summary

Academics are recruiting a Learning Support Worker for a caring primary school in Torfaen. You will support pupils during lessons, including one-to-one and small-group work, helping children access activities and develop social, communication and learning skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience in schools or childcare, strong communication, patience and resilience, safeguarding knowledge, and Education Workforce Council registration; DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people
• Experience in a school, childcare, care or similar setting
• Strong communication skills, patience and resilience
• A positive and nurturing approach
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
• Education Workforce Council registration
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
• Two recent professional references

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils during lessons, including one-to-one and small-group work
• Helping children access and understand classroom activities
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
• Supporting classroom routines and planned activities
• Helping develop pupils' social, communication and learning skills
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
