Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Provide high-quality classroom support alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences.
  • Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to support pupils’ targets.
  • Adapt activities to meet needs of all learners, including SEND.
  • Support assessment and monitoring of pupil progress and provide feedback to staff.
  • Promote safeguarding and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development throughout the day.
  • Contribute to wider school life and uphold school values.

About the role:

justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Thetford who are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for a confident and motivated HLTA who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development across the primary age range. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and senior leaders to deliver high-quality learning experiences, provide intervention support, and lead whole-class teaching when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned lessons across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the absence of the class teacher
  • Provide high-quality classroom support, working alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences
  • Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to support pupils in achieving their individual learning targets
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Support the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and carers
  • Assist with classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development throughout the school day
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school and uphold its values and expectations
  • Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting
  • HLTA status or an equivalent qualification is desirable; experienced Teaching Assistants with relevant skills are encouraged to apply
  • Experience leading whole-class learning and delivering interventions across the primary curriculum
  • A sound understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to supporting teaching and learning
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Two recent education-based references
