Job summary

Eastfield Academy in Northampton is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join our primary school community. You will supervise classes during teacher absences, liaise with teachers, and ensure clear instructions are followed.

The role is 13 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, fixed-term until 31 August 2027, with salary on NJC pay scale and pro-rata adjustments. We offer Local Government Pension Scheme and flexible working patterns.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at A* to C or equivalent.
• An accomplished user of ICT.
• Excellent clear verbal and written interpersonal skills at all levels.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Commitment to and or experience of working with children and young people.
• Ability to motivate and encourage children to meet their learning targets and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide cover supervision for children across the primary school.
• Supervise students in their work during the absence of their teacher.
• Liaise with class teachers and support staff to clarify instructions.
• Inform the teacher of any non-participation by individual students.
• Contribute to evaluation of work set for cover lessons.
• Provide general support when not required to cover lessons.
• Attend professional development and meetings as necessary.
• Promote behaviour management and the academy ethos.
