Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Pricing Transformation Actuary to lead development, enhancement and sustainment of pricing models. You will work with underwriters, actuarial specialists and change teams to deliver pricing solutions that improve business decisions and performance, while driving adoption of modern tools like Hyperexponential (HX).

You will be hands-on across pricing, analytics, technology and business engagement, with increasing ownership of key models and transformation

Qualifications

• Experience building or enhancing pricing models in insurance or related analytics.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with data-driven conclusions.
• Proficiency in at least one coding language with ability to learn Python and extend Excel capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and refine pricing frameworks to support underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries and pricing change experts to translate needs into model improvements.
• Own specific pricing models or components of the Pricing Transformation roadmap.
• Enhance HX-based pricing models with Excel and analytics tooling.
• Analyse pricing data and model performance to inform calibration and improvements.
• Support calibration, testing, validation, and documentation of pricing models.
• Work with Portfolio Management, AI Enablement and IT to deliver integrated solutions.
• Seek opportunities to improve pricing capabilities and underwriting outcomes through data and tech.
• Share knowledge and mentor graduates and junior colleagues when appropriate.
