Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Pricing Transformation Actuary to shape and enhance pricing models across the International Portfolio Analytics team. You will work with underwriters, actuaries and technologists to deploy data-driven pricing capabilities on HX and related tools, driving better underwriting decisions and business performance.

You’ll own model components, collaborate on calibration and validation, and contribute to a broader transformation roadmap with a focus on data, analytics

Qualifications

• Experience developing, enhancing or supporting pricing models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with pricing data.
• Proficient in at least 1 coding language, preferably Python.
• Ability to engage effectively with underwriters and business partners.
• Clear communication of technical concepts in plain language.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and maintain pricing frameworks for underwriting and portfolio decisions.
• Collaborate with actuarial specialists and underwriters to translate pricing challenges into solutions.
• Take ownership of pricing models, enhancements or roadmap components.
• Develop and improve pricing models on the Hyperexponential (HX) platform using Excel and analytical tooling.
• Analyse pricing data and develop model analytics to evaluate performance and calibrate models.
• Support calibration, testing, validation, documentation and ongoing enhancements of pricing models.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Management, DAI and IT to deliver integrated business solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve pricing capabilities and underwriting outcomes.
