Job summary

Markel Corporation is seeking a Pricing Transformation Actuary to develop, enhance and sustain pricing models for underwriting decisions across Markel International. You will work with underwriters, actuaries and pricing experts to deliver data-driven pricing solutions on the Hyperexponential platform and related tools.

The role combines pricing, analytics, technology and business engagement, with rising ownership of key models and transformation initiatives as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, enhancing or supporting pricing models (insurance pricing preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for pricing data.
• Proficient in at least 1 coding language and able to learn Python.
• Clear communication with underwriters and business partners.
• Curiosity and ownership with a growth mindset across pricing, analytics, technology and transformation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and maintain pricing frameworks for underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with actuaries and underwriting to translate requirements into models.
• Develop and improve pricing models on the Hyperexponential (HX) platform.
• Analyse pricing data, calibrate models and support validation.
• Share best practices and mentor graduates and juniors.
