Job summary

At Balfour Beatty, we are seeking a commercially minded Pre-Construction Manager to join the Regional Civils team in the North West. You will influence projects from early opportunities through to contract award, coordinating work winning, estimating, planning and design teams to deliver compelling, deliverable solutions.

You will develop methodologies, manage risks and drive value while maintaining a strong focus on safety and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a pre-construction, construction management, engineering or project delivery role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of the project lifecycle from tendering to construction delivery.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
• Ability to develop and evaluate construction methodologies, programmes, risks and delivery solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate pre-construction activities across civil engineering projects.
• Support bid development with work winning, estimating, planning, design and commercial teams.
• Develop construction methodologies, programmes, risk assessments and delivery strategies.
• Identify opportunities to improve buildability, efficiency and sustainability.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, designers and suppliers on innovative solutions.
• Provide input during tender reviews to ensure realistic and competitive proposals.
• Identify and manage pre-construction risks, opportunities, constraints and interfaces.
• Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities to influence outcomes.
