Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Pre-Operative Assessment team at Weston General Hospital. You will assess, review histories, coordinate investigations and support a safe surgical pathway with the multidisciplinary team.

Relevant post-registration nursing experience and current NMC registration are essential; CPD and teaching abilities are desirable to support colleagues and student learners within a busy surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and CPD ongoing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and MDT interactions.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• IT skills and experience with electronic clinical systems.
• Knowledge of NMC Code and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive pre-operative assessments and plan individualized care.
• Conduct history taking, physical assessment, venepuncture, cannulation and ECG when needed.
• Elevate clinical risks to anaesthetists and MDT as appropriate.
• Provide clear information and reassurance to patients and relatives.
• Maintain accurate records in line with policy and standards.
• Support safe environment and medicines management.
• Respond to concerns and escalate as required.
• Assist with day-to-day running of the service and collaborate with teams.
