Job summary

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse to join our surgical services team. You will assess patients scheduled for elective surgery, identify risks, coordinate investigations, and support patients through their surgical journey.

You will liaise with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre teams, and other professionals, maintaining accurate records and ensuring adherence to national guidelines and Trust policies to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments for patients undergoing elective procedures.
• Obtain and review medical histories, medications, and clinical investigations.
• Identify and elevate potential risks that may impact surgical suitability.
• Request and interpret investigations in line with local protocols.
• Provide patients with information and education regarding their surgical pathway.
• Liaise effectively with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with national guidelines, Trust policies, and patient safety standards.
