Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a hands-on Machine Preparation Centre (MPC) Engineer in Immingham to prepare, inspect and commission Volvo Construction Equipment for delivery. You’ll ensure machines meet safety, quality and customer standards while supporting continuous improvement within the Preparation Centre.

You will work as part of a team, handle inspections and software updates, and contribute to equipment readiness for dispatch.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing, servicing or repairing heavy plant equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-delivery inspections, machine preparation and commissioning.
• Fit customer-specified attachments and accessories.
• Complete inspections, software updates, documentation and PDA inputs accurately.
• Identify and report defects or additional work requirements to resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in line with safety and quality procedures.
