Job summary

SMT GB, based in Immingham, is seeking a Machine Preparation Centre (MPC) Engineer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will prepare, inspect, and commission Volvo Construction Equipment machines to the highest safety and quality standards, ensuring each unit is ready for delivery.

You will work within the Preparation Centre, supporting continuous improvement and mentoring trainees where required. A strong background in hydraulic and electrical systems and a meticulous eye for detail are

Qualifications

Recognised engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance or related discipline (NVQ Level 2/City & Guilds).
Experience repairing or servicing heavy plant machinery with hydraulic/electrical systems.
Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork with attention to detail.
Full UK driving licence desirable; welding experience advantageous.
Willingness to attend training, overtime, and potential travel.

Responsibilities

Carry out pre-delivery inspections and machine preparation.
Commissioning activities and fitting attachments per customer specs.
Update software, complete documentation, and PDA inputs.
Identify defects and report required work to ensure issues are resolved.
Maintain tools/work areas to high safety, quality standards and assist training.
