The Vacancy

Wates is seeking a talented Pre-Construction Director to join our Construction West team based in Manchester and Birmingham. The Pre-Construction Director will ensure all pre-construction activities align with the business plan and priorities set by the Group, comply with governance, and support achieving sales targets. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression within a diverse and supportive team.

About the Role

As part of the West's Senior Leadership team, you will oversee pre-construction activities across the Regional Business unit, ensuring alignment with the business plan, priorities, and governance standards to meet sales targets.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing robust pipeline and bid strategies to achieve sales targets
• Establishing bid strategies with local teams and leading implementation for success
• Managing and presenting major bids to the Construction Group Board, and ensuring local bids meet governance requirements
• Leading a team of bid managers, estimators, cost planners, and proposals teams
• Participating in national functional groups to drive excellence and implement priorities
• Supporting business development through external networking and customer engagement
