Job description

Nicholas Associates are partnered with a groundworks and civil engineering contractor who are one of the most highly regarded companies in their field. Due to growth and securing new work, they are looking for a Pre-Construction Manager. The company has a high staff retention rate and employee progression programmes. They work alongside construction companies and deliver civil engineering, groundworks, and infrastructure services to new build projects with top 10 house builders.

The primary role of the Pre-Construction Manager is to lead the pre-construction modelling team and provide technical guidance for estimators and site teams in delivering successful tenders. The role involves building close working relationships with clients to gain a competitive advantage at tender stage and translating this into a strategy for the successful delivery of all secured tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Identify and explore all value engineering opportunities.
2. Obtain an accurate ground model and produce an earthworks strategy.
3. Oversee the transition of earthworks models from tender to construction.
4. Work closely with Construction Directors and Group Commercial Director to ensure tender strategy is converted into site activities.
5. Ensure the post-contract team understands the scope of works and delivery strategy.
6. Conduct site visits during the first 3 months of new sites.
7. Attend pre-start meetings, both internal and external.

Experience Required:

1. HNC / HND / Degree in civil engineering.
2. 10 years of experience in civil engineering.
3. Skilled in modelling software.
4. Good communication skills with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
5. A professional and confident attitude.
