Pre-Construction Manager - Civil Engineering

Nicholas Associates are partnered with a highly regarded groundworks and civil engineering contractor. Due to growth and securing new projects, they are seeking a Pre-Construction Manager. The company boasts high staff retention and employee progression programmes. They work alongside construction companies, delivering civil engineering, groundworks, and infrastructure services to new build projects with top 10 house builders.

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Pre-Construction Manager is to lead the pre-construction modelling team and provide technical guidance to estimators and site teams for successful tender delivery. The role involves building strong relationships with clients to gain a competitive edge at tender stage and translating this into effective strategies for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Identify and explore all value engineering opportunities.
2. Obtain an accurate ground model and develop an earthworks strategy.
3. Oversee the transition of earthworks models from tender to construction.
4. Collaborate with Construction Directors and the Group Commercial Director to convert tender strategies into site activities.
5. Ensure the post-contract team understands the scope of works and delivery strategies.
6. Conduct site visits during the first three months of new site commencements.
7. Attend pre-start meetings, both internal and external.

Experience and Qualifications

1. HNC / HND / Degree in civil engineering.
2. Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering.
3. Proficiency in modelling software.
4. Excellent communication skills with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
5. Professional and confident attitude.
