Job summary

The Alton Practice is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the operational and business management of our GP surgery, working with supportive GP Partners and an experienced Operations Supervisor. The role focuses on staff development, governance, financial management and delivering safe, accessible patient services.

You will support teaching activities for medical student placements and GP training, while coordinating NHS contracts, PCN commitments and service improvements across the

• Experience managing GP practice operations.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Support ongoing teaching and GP training activities.
• Maintain governance, financial and staffing processes.
• Ability to lead, develop staff and manage performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the practice with the Operations Supervisor.
• Oversee administrative systems, appointments, patient access and service delivery.
• Manage staffing, rotas, recruitment, induction and staff development.
• Ensure governance, financial records and contractual submissions are sound.
• Coordinate NHS contracts, QOF, PCN commitments and performance reporting.
• Promote patient-centred services, handling feedback and engagement.
• Oversee IT systems, data protection and information governance.
• Manage premises, health and safety, incident handling and business continuity.
• Support teaching and GP training activities with clinical educators.
• Represent the practice in partnerships with GP Partners and external bodies.
