Job summary

Woodlands Surgery is recruiting a nurse to join its GP practice nursing team. You will work with GPs and reception, delivering care during booked appointments, including dressings, injections and immunisations.

What’s offered includes NHS Pension access and support for training and development; there is potential for full-time hours for the right candidate. Current NMC registration is required and training is provided for any procedures you do not yet perform.

Qualifications

• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Appropriate training and competency for the clinical procedures undertaken.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care through booked appointments, working independently within competence.
• Treat­ment room nursing, including wound assessment and dressings, venepuncture, blood pressure checks, ECGs and urinalysis
• Immunisations and vaccination programmes, including cervical screening and other women’s health procedures
• Monitor and manage long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes and hypertension where trained.
• Administer medicines safely under appropriate authority and respond to adverse reactions
• Maintain accurate clinical records with coding and ensure timely follow-up administration
• Provide health promotion and patient education to support self-management
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures and keep clinical areas clean and stocked
• Support healthcare assistants and students within competence
