A leading healthcare provider is seeking a registered nurse to deliver high-quality patient care. The role involves performing holistic assessments, managing chronic diseases, and assisting in various clinical tasks. The ideal candidate will have NMC registration and a commitment to professional development.
To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and any additional roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
Facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise
Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests
Take ECGs
Carry out Respiratory Chronic Disease management clinics including Asthma and COPD, carrying out Peak Flow Readings and Spirometry
Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
Carry out Diabetes Chronic Disease management clinics
Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions
Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
Maintaining vaccinations stock levels

Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written)
Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained
Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration, sterilizer and emergency equipment
A duty to advise Managers of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines
Maintain confidentially of information at all times
Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
