Job summary

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Practice Liaison Facilitator (Internal Vacancy) to support nursing student education across wards, departments and community settings.

The post supports partnership with universities, oversees assessment of students, and helps ensure high‑quality learning environments to enable learners to achieve their potential. Part-time secondment to 28-Mar-2027, closing 08 October 2026.

Qualifications

• RN Child (RSCN) or equivalent clinical qualification.
• Degree in relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
• Experience assessing nursing students across training stages.
• Teaching/mentorship training and practice supervisor skills.
• Project management experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Partnership work with universities on nursing student placements and curriculum.
• Educate and advise Learning Environment Managers, Practice Assessors and Supervisors.
• Support student nurses on practice placements.
• Teach and assess students in practice settings.
• Manage the placement QA database (PARE) and audit student feedback.
• Ensure adherence to NMC Education Standards for pre-registration nursing education.
• Advocate for and develop high-quality learning cultures across the Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for aregistered nurse or health visitor (Band 6 or above) to join our small, dynamic, and passionate team as a Practice Education Facilitator.

The Trust facilitates undergraduate pre-registration practice placement education across our wards, clinical departments, and community settings in partnership with universities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting the development of future nurses and enhancing the quality of practice learning throughout the organisation.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in the assessment of student nurses across all stages of their training and will be committed to fostering high-quality learning environments that enable students to achieve their full potential.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Matron, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring partnership working with universities regarding nursing student placements, assessment, curriculum planning and policy development.
• Supporting, educating and advising Learning Environment Managers, Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and students throughout the Trust.
• Supporting student nurses on practice placement.
• Teaching and assessing students in practice.
• Managing the placement Quality Assurance database (PARE), collating audit feedback on student experience and ensuring actions are taken where needed to maintain high levels of student learning and experience.
• Ensuring the NMC Education Standards for pre-registration nursing education are achieved and maintained throughout the Trust.
• Proactively advocating for and developing excellent learning cultures, opportunities and environments for nursing students throughout the Trust.
