Job summary

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Clinical Support Worker for the Safeguarding Unit. This part-time role (30 hours per week) involves out-of-hours/on-call duties and supporting vulnerable children and families within the SARC framework.

Based in Sheffield, you will join a multidisciplinary team, providing clerical and clinical support, inventory management, and adherence to safeguarding and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent at level 2 or above.
• Vocational Award Level 2 in Health or equivalent.
• Commitment to undertaking Vocational Award Level 3 in Health.
• Training in nursing observations and vitals (temp, weight, height, urinalysis, pulse oximetry).
• Experience in health/social care and NHS environment.

Clinical Support Worker (Safeguarding Unit)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated, and compassionate individual to join our Safeguarding Support Unit. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering high-quality care and supporting vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

About the Role

This role provides essential support to theSouth Yorkshire SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre).

As part of the SARC team, you will be required to participate in the out-of-hours/on-call rota, covering the forensic SARC service 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year alongside our team of Health Care Support Workers and Crisis Workers.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the SSU/SARC Nurse Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Providing clerical and administrative support
• Carry out a range of individualised clinical care duties delegated by qualified nurses, medical staff, or other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Support children, young people, and their families throughout their care journey.
• Managing stock and maintaining supplies
• Cleaning, caring for, and monitoring specialist equipment
• Supporting the delivery of high-quality, family-centred care
• Working closely with parents, carers, and the multi-disciplinary team

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

• GCSE A-C English or Level 2 equivalent
• GCSE A-C Maths or Level 2 equivalent.
• Vocational Award Level 2 in Health
• To have or be committed to undertaking & completing a Vocational Award Level 3 in Health
• Training and demonstrable competency in nursing observations e.g. temperature, weight and height monitoring, urinalysis, pulse oximetry and dinamaps.

Experience

• To have experience in a Care or Health & Social Care environment within a hospital or community setting
• Worked in a customer facing environment
• Worked with children and young people
• Worked within the National Health Service
• Worked within a SARC
• Worked with children and young people who have experienced trauma

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of Health & Safety and maintaining a safe environment
• Knowledge of Safeguarding children or young adults
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control principles
