Job description

Working hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 5.30pm)

Reports to: Departmental Support Manager

The Team

We advise on a wide range of corporate matters, serving global corporates, private equity funds, AIM-listed companies, and owner-managed businesses. Our expertise includes publishing, radio, hospitality, sovereign wealth funds, partnerships, and healthcare.

Responsibilities
Organisational Support
  • Effective diary management and workload awareness to plan ahead with minimal supervision.
  • Processing applications, forms, or searches with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of all departmental systems and processes.
Client Relationship and Business Development
  • Providing excellent internal and external client service promptly and professionally.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for Fee Earners.
  • Assisting with marketing communications and recording business development meetings in InterAction.
  • Maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
Document Production
  • Creating high-quality, formatted documents efficiently following house style and internal guidelines.
  • Using the Document Management System effectively.
  • Creating documents from templates and using contact data from InterAction where appropriate.
  • Proofreading documents for accuracy and clarity.
IT Skills/Systems
  • Maintaining proficiency in core IT applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
File Management
  • Proactively managing files to ensure they are current, closed, and archived properly.
  • Keeping accurate records of files sent to off-site storage.
Financial Risk Management
  • Preparing bills as required.
  • Handling AML documentation and obtaining client documentation promptly.
  • Conducting conflict searches and correctly identifying work types.
Skills and Experience
  • GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
  • Previous secretarial experience in a law firm.
Additional Information

The standard working hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm. Flexibility and willingness to work beyond regular hours are essential, depending on client demands.

Farrer & Co operates an agile working framework, requiring at least 40% of working hours in the office, with potential for more depending on circumstances.
