Join Our Team and Make a Difference in Primary Care

We are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic General Practice Assistant (GPA) to support our clinical and administrative teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a progressive and supportive general practice and Primary Care Network (PCN) that is committed to improving health outcomes for our population.

We offer full training and mentoring for the GPA role, aligned with NHS England's national programme. Ongoing development opportunities will be available to expand your scope as part of our integrated care team.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist with Health Care Assistant clinical duties such as taking observations (BP, height/weight, ECGs, phlebotomy, with appropriate training if required).
  • Provide clinical procedures such as immunisations and wound care, within competency limits.
  • Carry out chronic disease reviews/annual checks.
  • Provide administrative support during GP consultations (e.g., coding of medical letters, discharge summaries).
  • Support the nursing team with administrative tasks, such as coding vaccination history, care plans, and completing monthly financial claims for vaccinations.
  • Support the Management team with recalls for KPI targets such as QOF and Local Enhanced Services.
  • Arrange patient appointments, investigations, referrals, and follow-ups.
  • Assist GPs in liaising with external services and processing referrals (e.g., arranging urgent secondary care advice or admissions).
  • Liaise with patients and signpost appropriately to services or team members.
About us

As a General Practice Assistant, you will work alongside GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to improve patients' access to care and reduce clinical workload pressures. Your work will help streamline clinical pathways, enhance patient experience, and contribute to the efficient functioning of the practice.
