Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Buckinghamshire to lead the mechanical design of powertrain components across R&D and customer programs.

You will design 3D parametric models, perform first-principles calculations and interpret FEA results to validate and optimise your designs, while collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality and suppliers to drive DFM and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering required.
• Strong background in first-principles engineering and FEA interpretation.
• Hands-on experience in designing mechanical, thermal, or fluid components.
• Experience with CATIA V5/V6, motors/inverters, mechatronics, or GD&T is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative 3D parametric models and drawings for mechanical, thermal and fluid systems.
• Apply first-principles calculations and interpret FEA results to validate designs.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and suppliers to drive DFM and ensure high standards.
• Assist with DFMEAs and root-cause investigations to reduce cost and complexity.
