Job summary

Ricardo is seeking a Principal Mechanical Development Engineer to lead powertrain and transmission development across multiple sectors. Based in Shoreham-by-Sea or Leamington Spa, you will manage cross-functional teams, work with test and analysis groups, and drive design validation through rigorous testing and supplier coordination.

The role requires an engineering mindset, strong communication, and proven PM skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering preferred but not essential.
• Experience in automotive, industrial or marine powertrain development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a development team on powertrain and transmission projects.
• Define system and component specifications and validation plans.
• Coordinate testing, analysis, and design recommendation processes.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal labs for DVPs and FMEAs.
• Prepare proposals and manage project plans across sites.
