Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a Transformer Operative to join our skilled team. You will carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, refurbishment and commissioning support on power transformers and high-voltage equipment in substations and renewable projects across the UK.

Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you will dismantle and assemble transformer components, perform fault finding, and ensure safety and quality standards under site supervision. UK-wide travel and nights away may be required.

Qualifications

• Time-served Mechanical Fitter with proven industrial experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Previous substation and transformer experience is desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, dismantle, assemble and refurbish power transformers and related mechanical equipment.
• Perform mechanical installation, maintenance, inspection and fault-finding on transformers and plant.
• Replace transformer components such as radiators, conservators, pipes, valves, cooling equipment and seals.
• Assist with repairs, refurbishment and life-extension projects.
• Support installation, dismantling and oil filling activities; assist with testing and commissioning.
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly; assist with rigging and lifting when trained.
• Complete documentation and maintain safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate within multi-skilled teams across the UK.
